The Maldives has officially joined the global Superbrands network with the launch of Superbrands Maldives, a prestigious platform that recognises and celebrates the nation’s strongest and most trusted brands.

Superbrands, established in London and operating in over 90 countries, is widely regarded as the world’s leading arbiter of branding excellence. The program honours brands that demonstrate exceptional reputation, consumer trust, and market leadership. The launch event, held in Malé, brought together industry leaders, business pioneers, economists and marketing professionals. Delivering the keynote, the Chief Guest, Mr Ali Hussain, highlighted the importance of branding in shaping the Maldives’ economy and emphasised that brands are more than business names, where better performance becomes the expectation, innovation becomes the norm, and trust becomes the currency of the market. Speaking at the function, the Chairman of Maldives Superbrands and the Managing Director of Trans Media Private Limited, who runs the Superbrands Maldives program, said that Superbrands Maldives provides a platform to showcase excellence internationally, inspiring businesses to raise their standards and strengthen consumer trust. During the function, Superbrands Coordinator Mr Shariful Islam, in his presentation, highlighted that Superbrands Maldives is not just about recognition—it is about setting benchmarks for excellence and inspiring brands to reach global prominence, telling a story of trust, quality, and innovation. Coming back to the topic of true brand reputation with Andrei Popa: 𝑰𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝑰, 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒅𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒖𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏?
As we explored earlier, technology is making brands more visible and accountable. Andrei adds another layer to the discussion: in a world where almost anything can be generated, authenticity comes from turning values into visible actions and creating a real impact on communities.
Clarity, accountability and purpose become even more powerful when people can see and experience them.
💬And that brings another element into the discussion: brand culture. Let’s keep exploring.

Samsung Sri Lanka has been recognised at Superbrands Sri Lanka’s Choice 2025 in the Home Appliance category, marking a significant milestone for a brand that has built a strong presence in Sri Lankan homes through innovation, quality and consumer trust.

The recognition reflects the relationship Samsung has built with consumers over the years and its continued focus on technology that brings practical value to everyday life. From home appliances and televisions to connected devices, Samsung has continued to evolve its products around changing lifestyles and needs.

The Superbrands programme recognises brands that have established strong reputations and lasting connections with consumers. Its selection process includes market research, consumer insights and evaluation by an independent panel of branding and business professionals, making the recognition a reflection of both brand strength and consumer preference.

For Samsung, Superbrands Sri Lanka’s Choice 2025 represents more than an accolade. It is a recognition of the trust consumers place in the brand and the role Samsung technology plays in their homes.

Commenting on the achievement, Mr. SangHwa Song, Managing Director, Samsung Sri Lanka, said, “Receiving the Superbrand recognition is truly a proud moment for Samsung. For us, this award is much more than a title. It reflects the trust, loyalty, and connection we have built with consumers over the years. That is something we deeply value.”

He further stated, “At Samsung, we have always believed that innovation should make people’s lives better, simpler, and more meaningful. Whether it’s through our TVs, mobile devices, home appliances, or connected ecosystem, our focus has always been on delivering technology that people genuinely love and rely on every day. What makes this recognition even more special is that it comes from the people. It reflects how consumers see Samsung as a brand that continues to evolve with their lifestyles and needs. This achievement would not have been possible without the continuous support of our customers, partners, and our dedicated teams who work passionately behind the scenes every single day. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has been part of this journey.”

Samsung continues to strengthen its Home Appliance portfolio with products designed for modern households. Refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners and other home solutions combine useful features with technology designed to make everyday tasks easier.

Connected living is also becoming an important part of the Samsung experience. Through SmartThings, compatible appliances, televisions and smart devices can be connected and managed through one platform. Consumers can monitor their devices, control them remotely and automate parts of their daily routines, bringing greater convenience to the home.

Alongside innovation, Samsung places strong emphasis on reliability. Its 10-year warranty on Digital Inverter Motors and Compressors reflects the company’s confidence in the durability and long-term performance of its home appliances, while giving consumers greater peace of mind when making an investment in their homes.

“As we move forward, this recognition motivates us even more to continue pushing boundaries through innovation and delivering smarter, more connected experiences for consumers. At Samsung, we are not just creating technology for today, we are shaping the future of how people live, work, and connect," continued Mr. Song.

The recognition comes as Samsung continues to build its wider consumer electronics presence in Sri Lanka. Globally, Samsung has retained its position as the No. 1 TV manufacturer for 20 consecutive years, with Sri Lankan consumers able to access its latest Crystal UHD, Neo QLED, and the Frame TV ranges.

Samsung’s commitment to consumers also extends beyond its products. Its extensive retail and service network, including leading partners such as Singer, Singhagiri, Damro and Softlogic, helps provide consumers across the country with access to Samsung products and after-sales support.

Flexible payment plans offered through partnerships with leading banks further help make Samsung’s latest technology accessible to more Sri Lankan consumers. This combination of global innovation, local availability and ongoing support has helped the brand remain closely connected to the market.

The recognition was also marked at the Superbrands Tribute Ceremony, where Samsung Sri Lanka’s leadership, including its Managing Director and Head of Consumer Electronics, joined other leading brands and business leaders to celebrate the achievement.

For Samsung Sri Lanka, Superbrands Sri Lanka’s Choice 2025 is both a celebration of the trust built with consumers and a motivation to keep moving forward. As technology becomes more closely integrated into everyday life, Samsung remains committed to creating products and experiences that make a meaningful difference while continuing to deliver the quality and innovation consumers have come to expect from the brand.

A question that matters more than ever for Raluca Simu: 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒓𝒂 𝒐𝒇 𝒇𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒘𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒑𝒇𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔?
When reality becomes easier to distort, reacting faster or louder isn't necessarily the answer. Staying grounded in what the brand stands for becomes even more important.
Clarity, consistency, and integrity are central to Raluca Simu’s view, along with the ability to remain human and build genuine relationships even when trust is being challenged.
💬 And from authenticity, we move to reputation. Another point of view is just around the corner.
